Composition
The principle alloying element in Grade 6xxx alloys is Magnesium, accounting for up to 3.0% of the weight of these alloys. Additional alloying elements include; ≤2.0 Lead, ≤2.0 Zirconium, ≤1.8 Silicon, ≤1.5 Zinc, ≤1.5 Tin, ≤1.5 Bismuth, ≤1.4 Mangnese, ≤1.2 Copper, ≤1.0 Iron, ≤0.35 Chromium, ≤0.30 Vanadium, ≤0.25 Titanium, ≤0.20 Nickel, ≤0.06 Boron & ≤0.05 Gallium

Grade 6xxx series alloys are all easily welded, with the exception of 6066
Machinability
Grade 6xxx Alloys are not generally suitable for machining, with few exceptions.
